Dramas for you, me, everyone.

I am one of those ultimate TV junkies. Those that watch a lot of tv but sometimes try to make sure that there is no food around him to prevent himself from becoming a couch potato. Im almost a sucker for everything, though not really chinese martial arts films. I feel the same old classic stories are remade again and again, with the only indifference being either through the chinese directors deciding to be complete idiots by making a comic version of the story genre or else, just splashing a whole array of brooding young actors waiting for their chance at stardom.
And then i am sure that the culture of each country you live in really affects the kind of scripts being produced. In America there's desperate housewives because you can definitely believe that there should be more drama in their suburbian lives than the people living in the HDBs here. Somehow the concrete walls built around the Singaporeans seem to let most think that its reason enough not to try and know each other. There's also Greys anatomy which i really dig. And Alias. And the OC. And im waiting to watch prison break.
In Taiwan, i wonder if the teenagers there are all of sweet innocence when it comes to the idea of love because their bubbly teen dramas are nothing but that. Everyone in the show seems to have someone waiting for them in their lives to spend with in happiness. Which is definitely impossible because the reality remains that superficiality remains a solid influence towards the deicisons made in relationships.
Korean dramas are all bitter and heart-wrenching with their ultimate goals in just being touching enough to make people tear. I think the rule is simple: CRY=SCORE ( and in your face sucker). I used to love Japanese dramas the most when i was younger because it was always the most direct in its approach towards its story lines and you know that every minute that you have spent watching its shows was worth it. However, Mr bae aka the godfather of sensitive men had to come along and reverse the tide of Japanese influence in Singapore over the years.
Yet if the dramas of each country really do represent the culture of their people in a way, then Singaporeans are really ugly ugly people. I detest watching home-made shows because every episode stars an 'obasan' screaming their ass head off at another person which really gives me a headache. Our shows are usually about nothing but betrayals, money, inheritance, more money, sluts and so forth.
God please save our domestic broadcasts. And kill those who provide spoilers haha.
